Colorful Wedding Decor Is The Trend We’ve Been Waiting For In 2021
Picture it: Sicily, 1922. Oh wait. I mean…picture it: Instagram, 2016. Moody weddings are everywhere. Muted color palettes, sepia tones, and a romantic rainy day vibe are the ideal imagery for the modern wedding. Now don’t get me wrong, I love a moody wedding just as much as the next blogger. But friends, I think it’s time for something new. The emergence of colorful wedding decor has been a slow one, but believe me when I tell you that it will be everywhere come 2021.
Weddings are about love, liveliness, and joy. What better represents that than colorful wedding decor? We know it can be intimidating to think about mixing and matching colors other than some golds and blush tones. But what’s the harm in trying? This is what professionals are for, people! Take Shari, the event stylist extraordinaire behind Pink Wasabi Events. In the images featured for this week’s blog post, we see a beautiful example of how colorful wedding decor can be done tastefully, on-trend, and without it feeling like “too much”.
That’s not so scary now, is it? If you’re still a little apprehensive about going full color, consider some of these 5 tips to add a few splashes of color instead.
1) Instead of using tall floral centerpieces, try a shorter, brighter centerpiece
Not all centerpieces have to be the massive floral arrangements we’ve all seen on tv. There are plenty of ways to still offer height, like with candles (or just one or two tall flowers). Bonus points for using greenery for a more organic feel!
2) Have some color in your invites
Having colorful invitations with bold and exciting fonts is a great drumroll leading up to your wedding. It lets your loved ones know that a beautiful and bright day is soon to come!
3) Let the bar be the star
Don’t feel the need to make every element of your wedding super colorful. An excellent way to brighten up the room without running the risk of being “too much” is by using the bar as the colorful focal point. This is a great place to sparingly integrate colorful floral arrangements, or perhaps a fun sign listing signature cocktails.
4) Use a unique backdrop for the ceremony
Okay, okay maybe this option isn’t for everyone. But if you haven’t at least taken a look at some colorful and patterned backdrops, you’re missing out.
5) Let them eat (colorful) cake
When all else doesn’t seem quite right for you, turn to the cake! It’s a great way to integrate something different and special into your wedding without intruding on your decor. And there’s endless options for customization! In this example we have an eclectic design that will be sure to wow your guests. The orange flowers add balance to this design and a fun flare that will amplify any white cake.
